The Black Crescent Moon is carefully aligned using Black Tourmaline Stones and the Silver Crescent Moon can be taken out before the Candle is Burning. It is there for decoration if you choose not to burn the candle and use it for decoration only.

Each Candle is in a Tin that comes with a lid for safe keeping and holds approximately 8 oz of wax.
